Yamaha R1 chasing Mercedes SL 63
It is not just bike to car race. We are looking at competition of two opposite sides of the motor world: Yamaha R1 bike is chasing Mercedes SL 63. It is two wheels ride against four wheels drive. And there is also competition involving power and weight.
The Mercedes SL63 is running on bi-turbo V8 engine delivering 537 bhp and 590 lb-ft torque. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels, which is a disadvantage for long distances travelled at high speed.
On the other side, there is Yamaha R1 motorbike which weighs 450 lb wet and has 180 hp. The ratio between these two values is amazing but it is difficult to keep the front wheel on the road.
